DEÜ SoFL (School of Foreign Languages) attaches great significance to the continuing learning and development of the academic staff. The Professional Development Unit (PDU) has been formed to serve this purpose and design a development programme in accordance with the lecturers’ needs and interests.
Mission
PDU is a commission established to organise and conduct innovative, collaborative, and up-to-date workshops, seminars, and research projects that are determined according to the needs and interests of the academic staff of the School of Foreign Languages (SoFL) and aim to enhance their knowledge and acquirable skills.
Job Description
– Administration of the Professional Development Unit (PDU)
– Organizing in-house educational and developmental studies aligned with the lecturers’ needs to improve the quality of education in the School of Foreign Languages.
–Arranging and conducting workshops, seminars, research and teacher development projects
–Working in liaison with the heads of the units and all the coordinators
– Contributing to and promoting the administrative and academic development of the School of Foreign Languages
– Guiding the new academic personnel of the School of Foreign Languages (induction)
– Informing the lecturers of the upcoming ELT events, sharing polls/surveys, and introducing the latest educational developments via online platforms.
ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE PROFESSINAL DEVELOPMENT UNIT
PURPOSE: Induction of the newly hired academic personnel into the School of Foreign Languages, explanation of the educational policy and expectations, and providing training service to better the new staff’s performance.
SCOPE: This involves all new staff and the introduction of all the units.
