The School of Foreign Languages began its activities in 1982, when Dokuz Eylül University was founded, under the name Foreign Languages Coordinatorship, and later continued as the Department of Compulsory Courses.
On March 27, 1997, it was officially established as the School of Foreign Languages by the Council of Ministers, and on August 18, 1998, it formally began operating under this title. It continues to carry out its functions as the School of Foreign Languages today.
The primary aim of the School is to equip students of the Faculties, Schools, and Institutes that provide preparatory education with the necessary foreign language proficiency to follow their academic courses delivered in a foreign language.
The School is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of foreign language programs for the faculties, schools, and institutes within Dokuz Eylül University. It provides foreign language instruction (English, French, German, and Russian) to preparatory class students enrolled in various units of the University.
The education building, located on the Main Campus of Dokuz Eylül University, is equipped with modern audio-visual technologies required for effective language instruction. Classrooms are equipped with sound systems, and there are three Foreign Language Laboratories. With its experienced academic staff and qualified administrative personnel, the School offers high-quality education and training.
